Debugging request

I need some people who are having problems to run the emulator in a debugger using the DirectX debug runtimes. This is so that I can see what is causing the problems with certain graphics cards.

You can get the debug runtimes from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Your help is much appreciated of course....

_SF_, i downloaded those Direct X 9.0b Debug Runtimes, installed the Debug set of them, and now Halo finally worked on my GeForce TI 4200! =)

i don't know how to show you debug information or anything though; only thing i know how to run so far is the "dxdiag" window

i will try to attach picture:

so far, i can play it in both the Software mode (slow) and the Real mode (fast)

it lets me get to the part where i am making a character, but when i start to get in game it just exits out

i don't think my cache maps are being made right; so far all the menu are working for me

good work _SF_! this emu is cool! =)

Re: Debugging request

ok I got to run it (thnx to the runtimes) and it extracts the maps just fine. then I get to run the game under software mode (extremely slow) and on hardware mode (with software vertex processing. runs kinda fast)
then I make a new campaign, create the profile and select difficulty, then it tells me the disc is either dirty or damaged
if I try playing multiplayer on split screen, I put my player 1 to play, select level, then the emu closes
I get pretty cool music in the menu's btw

specs:
AMD XP 1900+
768 MB RAM
GeForce 4 Ti 4600

Re: Debugging request

Do I need to uninstall the old 9.0 first or can I just reinstall 9.0b debug?

I tried this with the debug version, it still the same problem.

Good, so it does work okay after all. I still need people with Radeons to confirm that there isn't a compatibility problem with ATI cards. Other than that, I'll try to deal with the startup problem but it probably won't be fixed for a while.

The menu doesn't appear correctly in GF4 Ti cards because I haven't optimized pixel shader emulation yet and it needs ps 2.0 right now. It'll definitely take some time before Xeon reaches the optimization stage.

Re: Debugging request

If you add support for PAL halo I'll be happy to run xeon through the VS debugger with the debug runtime to catch those messages =) I have a Radeon 9500Pro. Though I guess adding PAL halo support is way too much work just to get a debug report
(Since I own an original PAL Halo and have no way to get the NTSC one I can't help you otherwise)

Re: Debugging request

Well whaddya know, the debug runtime fixes my problem. I couldn't boot Halo until I saw this thread.

Just wish I could just load via Hardware mode and uncompress through there rather than Software...
