animated gif as avatar disabled?

I just tried uploading a tiny gif as avatar, but I cant....
is that a known feature or a mistake?

Mods and Admins are presumably only allowed to use them.

I remember several non-admins who had (and some have) animated avatars before; so either an admin upped them for those users, or it used to be different.

I had my animated gif for an av long before I was a mod, but it had to be really small in size. It still is.

May I remind you people that a vBulletin upgrade took place? That might very well be the indirect cause for it not working for Samor.

IT would be pretty lame if animated gifs would be disabled except for the mods and admins. If bandwidth is issue, its not the animation that matters but overall size.

i tried to use an animated gif recently too and it wouldn't let me. it was 85x85 four frames at 7.45kb.

i changed it after Bobbi's message. my original was just the 2nd frame of the animation.
