NGEmu RSS feed - test please!

I've just decided to upload the RSS feed of our new NGEmu backend, as I was finally able to ajust the core to send the required data. Now as I'm not reading RSS feeds, I haven't given it a try. So any RSS feed user, please use the link below and tell me if it works the way it's supposed to.

i dont think its meant to be opened. arent those RSS things for applications that fetch news. the page is only meant to be used with those programs IINM

Some you can open such as http://www.emufanatics.com/backend.php ... and it seems some want to download.

I checked this one and it seems to work fine Bobbi.

Yeah, it depends on the header you set ... but as long as this one works, I'm happy with it Thanks Keith.

I think it wants to download it because the file extension isn't .xml like most RSS feeds.

Can anyone recommend a good RSS reader? I've been looking through some, but can't find one with all the following features:

-Simple, you set and it checks on a set period
-When you recieve new news a small popup box in the bottom right appears.
-When you click the link it opens in your default browser. Not some horrible mini browser build into the program.
-Maybe POP3 reading as well(optional)

I think that's due to the "content-type" header, not the file extension. I've made .asp/.aspx pages for generating XML that displayed properly in IE.

I'm trying Feedreader. It fits your requirements #1 and #2. As for requirement #3, you can open the link into a new window (right-click "read more"), but i think it always opens IE when you do that.

I've also heard good things about SharpReader.

I've tried both of these so far. Feedreader was good, but I don't use IE as my browser. With SharpReader I just get an error when I try to run it.

Do you have the .Net Framework redistributable installed? SharpReader requires it.

I use klipfolio .. very nice and compact and works like a charm.

It would be very easy for someone to create their own klip feed with the link Bobbi provided for their feed or Bobbi could provide one for you.

Are you talking about SharpReader? Because, in this case, you just need to configure it properly:

- Go to the root folder ("Subscribed Feeds"), and look at the properties. Change "Auto Open Links" to "Never". Assuming kept all the feeds on default settings, this will affect all of them.
- Go to "Tools -> Options" and check "Open Links in External Browser".

This way, you can browse the news list without the page opening, and double-clicking any news item will open the page in the default browser (using Firefox here).

I dont like using more than a couple programs... i'll get into RSS feeds more when there's a way to display updates with msn messenger . (i looked, no hacks for it )

Working fine here Bobbi (and yours too Keith).

I am using NewsGator, it enables you to read these RSS feeds using Microsoft Outlook.
