as i need 1st and last posts most of the time .

would it be a better idea to display the first post until you view or post in the thread, and then show the last post?
imo this would make more sense as people who have not seen the thread would see easier what it is about.

After a quick scan down the board options I don't see any such setting... so I don't think it can be changed.

Er no. If such a factility were to be implemented, it would require that the boards database stored a record of every thread every member had ever looked at. That database would be absolutely huge (23000 members * 200,000 threads = 4.6 billion records ). As you could guess that would put a serious dent on both the servers storage and the time it would take to generate the web pages.

it wouldnt have to show every single thread, just something similar to the "go to last post" arrow that appears before the title, or perhaps the first and last posts displayed by moving the pointer over 2 areas in the thread title bar?
btw dont you keep a record of threads posted in for E-mail notification?

Beta I think it does it by your last visit and to see what threads are new and stuff so you can see the newest posts for that thread. This could also work for knowing what thread to preview for the mouse over. How to implement it to the mouse over thread preview thing I am not sure about because I am not too familiar with vB, but I am sure it can be done or there might actually be a mod already created for it.

well i think it can probably done by changing a few lines in the code. I remember a txt where it showed how to add that feature fro Invision Board. (its on my other HD which is currently unusable....)

My idea was to show the first post in a 'tooltip' menu (that's what they call em in games right??) when you point the name of the topic, and show the last post, when you point the 'last post' button.
I hope that will be possible. If not, well, no problem
