It happens sporadically at other times but this seems to happen ever night at this time.

It happens starting pretty much exactly at midnight though my time.

Perhaps skoreanime can doubly verify this since he lives in the same city as me or anyone else who lives in the same timezone as me.

I can still surf the web at lightning fast speeds during this 25min to 1.5 hour stint though so I know it isn't my internet connection.

edit: it became momentarily unresponsive for a minute again at 6:33 am. But now it seems to be working.
Nucking Futs told me that there was a reason behind why that happens a while ago. Though I forget exactly why. I'm sure bobbi can shed some light on that subject.

Perhaps you were referring to daily backuping?

These slowdowns hardly ever occured 5 months ago though. I never remember any slowdown from the daily backup happening.

Only the time it happened last year was when that arab dude tried to mess with emuforums.

Hrmm, the server load has been fine all day - we routed all the spam mails entering NGEmu to null now and disabled all services related to it. On long term, we'll send mails to another server to keep this one from slowing down too much because of it.

your isp is probably caching an old ip address for the site, add the sites current ip into your host file

high server load, we did have an emulator release in the last 2 days.

We just had the server rise to 25% usage then bottom off again.

If its no trouble Bobbi i'll run a few searches on the site and monitor the server cpu usage.
I can do that with vba-m forums admin tools.

OK i believe i have a suspect!

When i do a site search the board immediately jumps up 2-3% server usage, now imagine more 3 or 4 people searching the board at the same time.

searches arent even timelimited currently anymore, you know... (used to be limited to 1 search per ip every 50 seconds, iirc)

edit: emuforums and vba-m forum went "server busy" 8 minutes ago exactly (11 minutes after adding this post, since it got automerged)
