Hotmail and Yahoo users

Will they EVER be welcome again (if these are still silently blocked and prevented from joining)?

Constructively discuss Hotmail/Yahoo.

May the fleas of 1000 camels infest the crotches of BIOS swappers!
And may their arms be too short to scratch!

I was under the impression that such restrictions were removed awhile ago. (By Kirby).

An announcement would've been expected if such change took place (unless otherwise confirmed, I do believe they're still blocked, hotmail at least)

Why were they blocked in the first place?

Akismet-like services sucked at the time or were not available, maybe

only hotmail is blocked...

Yahoo is not in the filter. GMail is not in the filter also
TBH, no one should be using hotmail. com addresses anymore... with the live accounts now (which aren't blocked)...

actually gmail is in the filter, but that one can be avoided by using "googlemail.com" rather than gmail.

But im kinda tired of this subject cropping up, people dont "need" to use a free email service to sign up to the forum. The reason we have these in place is because these accounts are easily available for use of spammers and spambots. Pretty much every single ISP out there supplies you with an email address when you get an account with them, so there is no reason why you cant use that.

Besides, its not like there is NO free email service without yahoo, google and hotmail, is it?

Well, there always are the unknown shady ones (not blocked yet?) and bgmnot-like services... ;p

Expecting hotmail and gmail people to use live and googlemail would be giving them too much credit (not that many of these are or would be expected to be 'advanced' enough to figure this much out, especially as the live/googlemail workarounds do not seem to be mentioned anywhere)...

they arent mentinoed deliberately, else spammers will work it out without problem wont they

but besides this, everybody should have an available email they can use which doesnt constitute as a free easily available email address.
