Some more shots of VBA running on A.E.S
Set rendering to D3D oterhwise a weird errors occurs where the game is stuck to a place on the desktop. As you move A.E.S away it you see less and less of the game unless you move it back.

Direct hardware overlay at work there, apparently

Hmm, maybe I did something wrong though. Worked fine with epsxe, but couldn't get it to work with anything else or I would provide more screenshots.

Does the emulator or app running have to be running in Window mode at a certain resolution.

Or will AES render the emulators video output regardless of screen resolution as long as it's run in Window mode?

Was there any more updates since I chatted on MSN with you @ruantec-man? It could just be bad luck or something buggy on my end.

Anyways nevermind, I'll still post screens in this thread for testing purposes but will leave the bulk of testing/screenshots when the official release is available to provide additional feedback.

Keep up the good work @ruantec-man on AES, it's a nice and nifty app that can be used for multiple things can't wait until an official release if there is one when almost all the kinks are worked out if there are any.

the reason for that is i need to tell a.e.s which application to "grab" otherwise it will not work..

i´ll include and option to add your own later.... there´s actually a new beta as you can see.. VBA is now included and the next step is Project64!!!

i can´t wait to see mario64, zelda64 on a.e.s

that´s only needed in the beta version.... when am done it will not be needed anymore...

yeah it seems to be a problem between the emulator and a.e.s but just as schumi sayd already all you have to do is Select Direct3D instead.

UPDATE:

i´ve just added support for project64 Sadly it looks like the GPU plugin seems not to be A.E.S friendly at all... anyways i got it to work after all
enjoy the pictures!

Amazing work. Looks like a pretty damn nifty program.

This drawback is why I'm still sceptical about the use of this program. From what I can see you're just adding another window for the emulator to render in. When you get to the point that you can launch the apps from inside AES and hide them completely (which I assume is your ultimate goal), then I could see why some might want it. But in its current state the enthusiasm of people in this thread confuses me.

ps: Not trying to make waves, I just don't understand some of the hype.

i understand your point.... it´s a new way to manage things and many people are just sceptical about it(that´s normal)

the reason why am lunching the emulators manually now is because am testing, hunting bugs and many other things... in fact a.e.s is in beta stage at the moment.. that´s why is necessary.

as you can see in every screenshot here the emulator isn´t present... and it will not be present at all when am done..

at a later point you will be able to lunch the emulators from A.E.S if you want but that´s not necesary as you will lunch games in another way.

all you will need to do is insert a CD game in any of your CD-Roms and a.e.s will recognice the game(psx,Dreamcast, PS2 etc) it will ask you what to do..play the game or just wait.. of course you can activate the auto-run feature.

the roms you can lunch directly in a.e.s(rom list) or just drag and drop them to a.e.s.

when you do one of the those things you won´t see the emulator at all... as i sayd it will be gone! just look the pictures and you will notice when the game is running no emulator is present.

remember you can´t judge an application at beta stages

Any progress is to be welcomed. This looks ambitious, quite different and it sure will be quite nice when it gets final.
Ideally, it probably should be able to hook windows contents itself, without relyin on predetermined exe names, but Im not sure about the current state of video window hooking

well actually a.e.s is ready to work with every application/game the reason why isn´t working is because i have to tell which application to render

as soon as a.e.s detect a valid app rendering in the memory it injects his virus(so to say ) to render them instead. i can´t tell you how it really works as you will probably not understand right now but i think my explanation will help you to get the point

How will you handle updates though? Relase a new A.E.S package every time. Or will the user just overwrite the previous version in A.E.S's directory?
