sorry but it won´t go down as it doesn´t work... just as i sayd i just added for fun

anyways here´s a small update that shows the current state of A.E.S.. as you will see in the pics am getting almost everything now to work and slowly am getting closer to a complete build which mean the release is just very close

the cover-flow-like menu works faster than i though... so i had to add a limiter in order to get normal speeds even on low-end pcs..

more comming soon

A.E.S can play almost every file... if a format isn´t recognized A.E.S will search for a codec on your PC.. and if the Codec is installed then it will be used to play the file.. just as simple as that
So it uses DirectShow..thanks for the info. I guess then I'll stick with foobar2000 and XMPlay for module music.

The cover scroll moves fast and smoothly. @ruantec is working really hard on aes and hopes to have a release shortly

Might have been asked but will there be a way to navigate the covers besides cover flow? Maybe like a grid of some sort? Also, will be able to load the game up right into full screen? Finally, with a lot of front ends that work with PSX emulators I could never get short cuts and cd images to play nice. As in I'd load the game but the emulator will still ask where the CD image file is, know what I mean? Will AES do that or not?

the cover-flow-like mode is the standard one... but you can switch to list-mode to navigate your games/Audio/video/Images... when you do that the cover-flow menu will turn into a playlist instead.

Yes! that´s the main goal of AES.. by default is set to load the game in the AES screen but you can choose fullscreen.

Shortcuts and CD images play aswell with AES.. the PSX covers you saw will be PSX images actually(same with roms etc.)... in the main menu you have an "CD-DVD" icon.. this will be needed when a CD/DVD game is inserted(auto-run is set by default).

hope i answered all your questions... if you have some more feel free to ask

100% CPU usage isn´t normal even with the beta build you have.. and even if you´re using a notebook(centrino 1,5ghz) it shouln´t be a problem... plus your CPU usage shouldn´t get higher than 5-20%

check out other applications in the background that probably are causing the problem

Update: just forgot that... A.E.S ensure stability and speeds by reserving power and pushing your cpu to full power(if your cpu is slow)... even though it doesn´t not affect the speed of your system at all... this shouldn´t affect the speed of windows or any other applications

ok well,
my taskmanager shows only AES jumping at 97-99%, all other processes are under 5%
other windows like messengers, explorer etc are not slowing down, but pcsx2 runs slower.

CPU-Z shows full 1500mhz while AES plays the mp3, and when i close it, it goes down to 600mhz.
power safe mode of the centrino processor.
i don't know how i can disable it, there is no option in the bios.

check out for bundled applications that comes with your laptop... you get sometimes few tools from the manufacturer.

A.E.S update:

i´ve finally finished the "@ruantec Cover Launcher"(cover-flow-like menu) which was one of the biggest part of the development... now am going for the rest of the stuff.

the "@ruantec Cover Luncher" works smooth and damn fast.. you can even scroll through games while switching to another game category .... it will work with Audio and Video aswell.

this means the development at the moment is almost 80% done

Looking awesome. Fast and with precision. @ruantec gave me a test build with the covers, they look AWESOME. Better than any media center I've tried.

Watch the screens and drool

I want to test too.

Any plans for a new years day release ruantec? That would be a nice way to start off the new year.

Man this looks so amazing! Hey one question, I know your going for the "Iphone" look but think will be able to disable the signal bar at the top? Kinda cheesey

Also any plans for a full screen mode? So this can be used with an HTPC? Maybe even have navigation control with a game pad as well?

ok i think i´ll remove the signal bar .... fullscreen mode shouldn´t be a problem anyways and gamepads are supported with current tests builds(i´ll activate this function later).
