DNS and Domains
ive setup my site on my computer using apache and installed mysql and php.
now i want to get my own domain without paying. ive got a static ip with my broadband connection for £2 more ontop of my monthly bill and im running xp pro and if i run cmd then type ipconfig /all it shows my dns servers. how do i configure those to redirect to my ip? http://82.35.107.174/ or http://82.35.107.174/e107/ ps if u dont see my site it means my computer isnt on |

thanks guys, if u want me to add your site to the links u need to give me a small banner pic well u dont have to but it would look good, and of course the URL

you can go to http://www.no-ip.com there you can stop paying more for a static ip because they will do dynamic ip updating then get a domain from them like
you-choose-the-words-here.take-a-choice-from-their-list-for-this-spot.com and they will forward that trafic to your ip address.

Well, if you're running a DNS server on your computer, first you have to go buy a domain name. Then you have to add what are known as "host entries" for your domain name. Since you have one IP, you'll have to create two hosts with that IP (call them ns1 and ns2). Then set these hosts as the nameservers for your domain. Then you add zone entries to your DNS server's configuration.
It's much easier to go with a service like no-ip or dyndns, who handle the DNS through their DNS servers, than it is to set up your own DNS server. |
