Help with flash (creating a chat room)
i won't to create a flash chat romm for my site, know i now how whati have to do far as the client part but on the server part i don't. my question is this, i have a paid host, how would i go about putting the server part on the host, or is there away i can do it where i don't need a server part.
p.s. i you don't understand what im trying to say leave me a message and ill try to explan it in a diffent way

Well there are a few ways you can do this... but most importantly your going to need some sort php/cgi/java/database ....either your just going to relay the string to everybody in chatroom or.. your going to store it in a database temporarly and recall it for everybody.. either way isnt too hard.. I program for a lviing it seems here at GA Tech. lol.. but if you want to know how check google for some tuitorals on how communicate between php/cgi/java whichever and flash..also which flash version are you using again? the new 2004 flash makes things alittle simpler..hehe

im using flash mx, and ill check out google (would have don't it before but just didn't know what words to use's) by the way you know any tuters on flash i know the basic of it but that's about it (im trying to get all the info. about so i know i was going a little over borad sort of speak)

wise_evian, that would be horribly demanding (and slow)! The norm would be to have a Java applet client-server maintained connection. Besides having a "paid host" isn't enough. Unless you have direct access (dedicated server) you are NOT going to be able to run server processes of your own.
