Look for something called BlueJ. It's supposed to be an IDE - incredibly crappy, IMO. It does, however, present your classes and such in a UML-like fashion. Maybe you can use that.

IMHO the best solution is to use Eclipse with an UML Plugin. Eclipse for itself is better than any commercial and free IDE, and the UML Integration is seemless, its a bit of an hassle to get it going at first though.
Youll need Eclipse itself -Eclipse-Site and an UML Plugin - like this one the UML Plugin also requires GEF Plugin and EMF Plugin Last edited by N-Rage; September 10th, 2003 at 20:07. Reason: added screenie |

looks interesting, iīll go and check this out
![]() LOL i didnīt think this theoretical stuff about UML would not reach coders "reality" but now... too bad that java canīt be realy used for emucoding(since i like java), itīs way too slow..may i should take a look at C++ (but C was hard enough ..-_-) wbr Shin Gouki Last edited by Shin_Gouki; September 11th, 2003 at 10:40. |

Actually UML is invaluable if you have to split work between groups or people. After a deep initial hate, I got used to it and even now use it for some of my private stuff
![]() If your serious about Emu-Coding learn C++ FIRST, its similar to Java but in the same time its very different in some concepts. Java is kinda preventing you from stupid things by binding your both hands on your back. Its way more restricted than C++. With much expierience you can write cleaner Code in C++ than Java is able to( Everythings an Object, bah.. ) |

Java is kinda preventing you from stupid things by binding your both hands on your back. --> jupp ^^ and iīm glad it does so ![]() i heard aboutr UML at school and first tought , no way thats sounds good but... complex..but if you get used to it it may be mighty (many people can do MORE coding )...if UML getts widly accepted i hope that emu coding could be ähm accelareted beuace it helps to keep an overview even if more people work on a project. uff i got it installed an run my java usual stuff but couldnīt get going the UML visualization (i didnīt find it under windows/perspectives) N-rage could you plz tell me how to get this working? (i installed all packages , you mentioned above) wbr Shin Gouki Last edited by Shin_Gouki; September 12th, 2003 at 00:32. |

Re: Java to UML Converter...got any?
ok guyz, thanx for the links...i want to ask, how to link btw the single class diagrams...i mean the relations btw class A and class B, whether one to one, or one to many, or many to many, and where the arrows should point and sort of...

So in C++ messy code is lack of experience, in Java its a Language-Limitation. All IMHO of course @Shin_Gouki: if its installed, you should get into Java-Perspective and there into the Package-Explorer. If you right-click on a package you will see a entry "UML". If you create a UML-Diagramm it will then asks which Classes should be automatically UML`ed - later you can create Classes direct in the Diagramm or Drag`n`Drop them around. I think theres a tutorial in the Help. @navilink: would be tricky to guess what Classes are associated, since you usually use an Vector for example... and that means you can throw any Object into it. Is only works automatically for dependance. |
