phpbb2 not saving settings.
phpbb2 ( 2.0.6 ) is not saving ANY settings i select in the Admin. CP on my website. Also, it looks like it doesn't do anything after i log on, but after selecting profile, it works. I'm running MySQL 4.0.14b, phpBB2 2.0.6, Xitami 2.5b5, on my K6-2 computer which i named my new web server. how can i fix it? my site is at http://www.nicedude455.cjb.net/ . Have a popup blocker on.
Also, can anybody tell me the site for free .tk redirecting?

Re: phpbb2 not saving settings.
I'm not too familiar with phpbb since i use invisionboard. If you are curious you can see how it functions by clicking on the link in my signature.
As far as redirecion, have you thought of just getting a dynamic dns? If you go to http://www.dyndns.org/ you can have a url that point to your server no matter what you IP may be. Now, I'm only saying this because I don't know if you IP changes or not. When I used the service it worked flawlessly. I heard the dot tk thing spawns a popup. As far as know http://www.dyndns.org/ does not. You could always pay for a domain name but that's a lot of headache. Also, the site did not load for me. I guess you were rebooting or something. :/ |

Re: phpbb2 not saving settings.
The site dosnt load for me either. I may suggest that you havnt chmod'd all of your files correctly, thus not having permissions to write to the config files on your server.
edit: as for .tk. Just type in www.tk . It is down atm.

i think i fixed it, i changed every last file in the phpbb2 directory to no r-o, which was messing it up. Also, i have to use Mozilla to get it to update correctly, which isn't a big problem, but Mozilla 1.4 is a memory hog
on top of that, i'm runnin kazaa kpp+, AIM, mySQL CC, and the server.

Re: phpbb2 not saving settings.
It's not loading dude. Are you behind a router?
And if you plan to have a large community, you may want to try invisionboard instead. And if you have money maybe vb. But the fact that ib is free (w/o support) doesn't mean it's bad. In fact, I believe VB and IB are at the top of the imaginary list of bulliten boards. I should start a news thread for this. |

. I'm going to try invision board..http://24.210.194.9/phpbb2/index.php is the board if cjb is not working. |

Re: phpbb2 not saving settings.
What kind of router do you have? Try this: go into your router's online configuration and see if you can enable port forwarding for port 80, then set it to forward incoming port 80 packets to your computer's local IP address (see winipcfg or type ipconfig in a commandline to see what the router assigned for your computer).

ugh.. its a bad Microsuck router... they won't let me use anything else ( they can detect whatrouter i'm using, and invasion of privacy! ).. i'm gonna hurt them.. and it has settings for that, but on all of my computers, i cannot get into the BSMT, so i can't change it. #*&^(%!s.

yeah, and the modem records everything i do too. I have to use dial-up just to download files because of my paranoid cable company. I'm getting a new cable modem soon anyways. I'll have to hack into the BSMT somehow, or find a host. But i don't like to pay for PHP and stuff. Anyways, with Xitami, i have pratcally unlimited space and support for mysql, php, etc.
