Re: help with making my website

Thanks Ryos!! If nobody minds, I'll just make this my "help with website" thread instead of opening one for every problem (which would most likely get me banned ). How can I have music played on my site?

Re: help with making my website

You could use a MIDI file playing in the background but bear in mind that not all people want to hear music playing. You should have an option to turn it off.

Re: help with making my website

Yes, it's on freewebs.com, but they don't have problems with MIDI files, just mp3s. I saw a good one,Cresendo, but I don't know if it will do...will it? http://www.liveupdate.com/freedownload.asp

Re: help with making my website

Crescendo is a lousy program and really shouldn't be used for any part of the MIDI process. Just do what scott suggested (and I would have the music default to off. There's nothing worse than to be listening to a CD or an mp3 or something and go to a site with a MIDI playing in the background).

Re: help with making my website

Use the EMBED tag. Here's an example which will add a midi player. Note that autostart is set to false. I removed the outsite pointed brackets, add these on.

EMBED src="source of midi file" width="144" height="60" autostart="false" loop="true" hidden="false"

Re: help with making my website

Thanks again. BTW, is there a program that makes the background of GIFs transparent other than Paint Shop Pro?

Yes Adobe Photoshop 7.0, you could buy them cheap in third world countries for 1.50 USD. They work perfectly or coughdowloadcough them but that wouldn't be right would it...

Re: help with making my website

Oh, and free webs is bad. Sure, they give u 100MB as storage but they only give 100MB as bandwith. What do u think of Doteasy.com?? The storage is only 20MB but the bandwith is 1GB. Freewebs charges 9$ for 1GB of bandwith.....but I can get professinal hosting for 8$ a month. Anyway, this is only a test site. If things go well, I'll move it to a commersial host(iPage anyone?)
