Re: cool....

because flash just sucks it isnt a real coded website, its slow, you can admire the flash, but you cant admire the good code behind it wich is sad really, id use flash for movies and **** like that but not for a website, html and photoshop is the way a site should be designed or gimp or other image editing proggies, FLASH SUCKS MAJOR ASS FOR WEBSITES, flash is for the commercial users, aimed at mainly little kiddies like disney, some nintendo sites, and i could go on.. its just not coding <--- and we will leave it at that

well im sorry but i totally disagree with you lol
sure coding is nice but Flash can be as hard and way more nicer
did you see the Infanium Labs website? i would like to be as good as the guy who did it.

as for reffering flash to kiddies and nintendo, that is just wrong....i think you have a serious problem..

aniway back on topic, iEvolutions your website is awesome

Re: cool....

I don't like Square Enix Europe's use of flash, loads too slow.

Personally I dislike the use of Flash on websites. It's a proprietary technology, so users are dependent on Macromedia to port their Flash plugin to their browser/platform. It also reduces accessibility for those with disabilities such as blindness, as a site written in Flash can't be viewed or navigated by anyone using a User Agent that isn't visual and doesn't have a viable flash plug-in. Finally, the use of Flash usually reduces the overall usability of a site's layout by making it more difficult to find and use content on a site.

A layout's function should always first and foremost be to aid the user in using the site, not impressing the user with how it looks. So for sites with no content, using Flash in the layout is no problem. However, sites with actual worthwhile content should never use Flash in their layouts.

I like that point. A site with constant updates like a news site shouldnt be done in flash. but one that just shows a product or something similor that is updated once evry 1-2 months then flash is always welcomed in my case

How often the content is updated is irrelevant.

A site that has a large amount of content (especially textual information or downloadable content) shouldn't use flash, while a site that is just one big advertisement for a game (which most official game websites are) can be all Flash.

Likewise, an online catalog or a site with important in-depth information about a product shouldn't use Flash either.

However, sites with all Flash content can freely use all-flash layouts, for obvious reasons.

see my point of view is different
i feel the content is irrelevent compared to the updating of a site.
for me i wouldnt mind to visit a flash website that has alot of content.
i go there get the info i want and that all.
but a website that is constantly beeing updated and that i know i will go back to check whats new shouldnt be in flash

well at least thats how i see it

I visit sites to obtain information or download content. For example, I'll visit PHP.net or MySQL.com to obtain reference documentation when I need to check something, or GIMP.org if I want to download the latest sources. When I need to find documentation on something Linux related, I'll visit tldp.org. When I want to buy something, I'll visit a site like Amazon.com, select a few items, and purchase them. When I want to look for a good deal on used items, I'll visit eBay. With these sites, a flash layout would simply get in the way. This has nothing to due with how often these sites are updated, how new or old the content is, or anything like that, but the way in which the sites and their content are used.

A flash site with a lot of content effectively excludes a good number of people from accessing that content. An all flash layout can even make it difficult to use the content (copying and pasting text for example).

Oh? Sorry about the whole Flash debate digression. You shouldn't be apologizing for anything.

Re: cool....

I've never seen a site with a hybrid Flash/HTML layout. For example, a Flash nav bar but HTML content in another frame.
