updated my site need feedback

Last time I posted I got some helpful feedback I'm hoping for the same this time arround.

http://cythraul.com/

I still have a lot of work to do reorganizing stuff (changing links/categories) but the design is basically done.

I still cant get it perfect for 800x600 users but the experience should be less painfull.

Also I plan on doing some more photoshop tutorials. I was thinking a basic tools or filters guide. Suggestions are welcome.

Thanks.

I think the black + gray combination is not that good as black + red, maybe you should try that out

Yeah, it's a little too bright... Hurts my eyes...

But it's a great design. I would be damn proud if I were you.

clean design! keep up the good work! your first priority is making it decent in 800x600, or add a starting page where you can select from the two versions of the site. i think more than 50% of people use 800x600, but i'm only guessing

Thanks for the comments.

I dont know the best way to accomodate 800x600 users. i think there shinking off and more people are moving to 1024x768. i dont want to make a splash screen since its just something else people have to click through to get to the page. if anyone has any good ideas let me know. perhaps a sitemap link would do.

as for the page encoding. i encourage anyone to right click and view the source code. its a great way to learn. just dont go out and make a complete knock off of it.

if your wondering why some of the code looks odd, i coded all of the site with the exception of the dhtml menu by hand in notepad.

im not a graphics expert or design guru so the site is more of a hobby and less of a commercial nature. I do most everything in my spare time for free. but if someone offers some money I wont turn it down. I won't ever put ads on the page. I'm against that too. they look tacky and take away from the design element.

to keep with the nature of the site name I started adding tutorial to the site this year. I think it was a good addition and I'm glad people find them helpful.

mp3s. errrr. some of the old mp3s I had linked were linked before the DMCA and that crap and I never took them down since no one requested it. I did have permission for most of it too. I'll probably be a bit more carefull this time arround. I'm going to try to ask a few metal labels if they'll let me upload some stuff. plus I'll put up some stuff from friends bands. mostly metal.

btw quatro, I've been making websites since about 96 or so. I've had the domain cythraul.com for just over 3 years now.

thanks again for the comments. its all helpfull to know even if I dont use it on this site I might on another.

yeah I think most of the users here (and in general) use 1024x768 but the option to choose between 800x600 and 1024x768 can come in handy

yah me too... started mine way back in 96, but then haven't got the time into web programming again until recently this year...

I might copy your sidebar if that would be ok by you if I get into serious web page programming again...

good luck on your future development... I'll be watching your page for latest addition

I like it. =)
Very informative and easy to navigate. My only (minor, incredibly small) complaint is that maybe it could use a bit more color. =)

Yeah I try to update a lot. the next months gonna be a killer though since I'm in the process of moving, studying for finals, writing papers, graduating, looking for a job.

last nite when i upped a review of phoenix that i wrote i checked my logs and played a mean trick on some bandwidth theifs. now they have images on there sites saying that their "ghey bandwidth thiefs."

anyways lets let this thread die so other people can get some help.
