Help me decide my final project x_x

I'm probably getting a bit ahead of myself here but for our final project in C++ we have to make a game. I'm not talking a really professional job with windows and stuff, just a simple one that uses the console. Examples from last year include monopoly, yahtzee, and SimTower (by yet another genius kid ... at least it didn't work hehe). I've been thinking about what I can and can't do and I'm pretty sure I can make simple things like board games and stuff. I just don't know what to do. Has anyone ever played AeroBiz? It was out for the SNES and Genesis; that's a really good game and I could probably make it.. it's just that it's not that fun without graphics and sound and stuff, lol. Any and all ideas are appreciated ... just as long as they're simple and can be done by a first-year C++ student.

I played Aerobiz for the snes, but I quickly grew tired of it. Too easy. Having a good business acumen helps a lot.

I have a lot of fond memories of that game. I remember I used to beat my dad all of the time and he'd just sit there and be like "wtf??! o_O" because he had no idea how to actually make a profit, hehe.

Tetris is a good one. It's usually recommended by people. Or you could try doing a space shooter with ASCII art. (That's actually what I am considering doing)

lol tictactoe ... that's prolly a little too simple for a final project. Hmm, tetris ... I never really liked that game. I was down in my basement rummaging through my family's board games and saw Stratego; anyone ever played that? That one shouldn't be too hard to do.

How about 4-in-a-row? Other games that can be programmed relatively easy are reversi and checkers.

Hm, 4-in-a-row rings a bell.. I can't remember the name of the american version. x_x dunno what reversi is. How would I do a maze game with monsters and stuff? That seems kind of complicated for me ... by the time the end of second semester rolls around I'll have the basics down but I don't know how such a game would be implemented. OH YEAH ITS CONNECT 4!! o_O 4 in a row.. connect 4.. I remember that game now. Might be interesting if I can program some AI.

btw has anyone ever played Advance Wars for the GBA? I tried to make that with VB last year but failed miserably o_x. Any suggestions as to how I might go about making it in C++?

In my C++ class we programmed an Asteroids game from scratch.. Took half the semester, but by the end, we had sound, endings, different weapons, and monkeys... Consequently, we named the game, MONKEYROIDS.. Oh, and we programmed it on Macs using Quickdraw routines..

Man I loved playing it.. Now where'd I put that source code for MONKEYROIDS..
