@ TheCloudOfSmoke
I think you can trust my list, as i used the one from the first post of this thread as a base and added different releases from games already in the list (poke mystery dungeon and rocky) and 2 from King Hanco previous work. I also tested all my changes and everything seems to work. I want to improve on it to become a file as complete as possible. So anyone could use it without worry ![]() @Squall-Leonhart Our lists are quite similar. You miss the european release of the poke dungeon games and Yu-Gi-Oh! - Ultimate Masters - World Championship Tournament 2006 (Europe)(En,Jp,Fr,De,Es,It). Top Gun - Combat Zones (U) must use the savetype 5 setting because the game work with a password system and will lock if the emu tries to create a save file. Are you sure the golden sun games use the real time clock? And is flashsize 0X10000 useful? because it save perfectly fine on default settings. For Yu-Gi-Oh! GX - Duel Academy (U), i will test the need for bios asap and add it to my list if need be. And thanks for your comparison list btw ![]() Also, did someone take a look at the read-me? Comments would be welcome. Last edited by master_magnus; January 29th, 2008 at 12:58. |

Thanks for your effort master_magnus. I took the time to read the readme and it's really good imo. If you don't mind, I'll clean it up and add it to the first post of this page (after making sure that you're ok with the revised version).

I am glad that you took the time to read it and find it useful. You can clean it up as you want and put it in the first post, but make sure you use the edited 20080109 version of both files, which contains small corrections.
I am sure you will improve the file with your different insight. (and maybe better grammar as english is not my first language )

flashsize 0x10000 forces 64k save size, but only really works in VBA-M, this is because if you happen to default the emulator to 128k, Golden Sun will fail to save without patching the sram. Quote:

Ok, 1. VBA can autodetect certain rom settings, VBA-Over is for those that can't 2. VBA 1.8b3 - VBAM have a Game Overrides menu in the Emulator menu which edits the vba-over file directly, allowing for easier editing of the file. 3. i've been a lil busy and reorganised it to make more sense since European roms are sent to most countries that aren't Jap or USA, the Europe section has been removed in favour of (Int) International, (Int) is a common form for dumps to be marked as International copies.

vba-over 20080202 :)
Thank you Squall.
I updated my read-me with the infos you gave me. (Even if TheCloudOfSmoke may modify it anytime now )I also took your vba-over and reordered it alphabeticaly. (Because i find it easier to search for a specific game, or add a new one, that way) and finally, i added: Yu-Gi-Oh! GX - Duel Academy (Europe)(En,Fr,De,Es,It) as i forgot about it last time. One last thing: the flashsize 0x10000 bit is useless as the vba-over is created to work with a Vba that use a flash 64k setting. That's why it contains all the flash 128K games and no one that use the 64k. Update: I modified my read-me to be shorter and more to the point. please tell me i you find any mistakes. @squall-Leonhart
After in-game testing, the golden sun games do not use the real-time clock and saves with the flash 64k setting. So, there is no need to add them to the file and they will still work perfectly fine. @TheCloudOfSmoke I also took some time to double-check my vba-over.ini file to make sure that there's no mistakes in it. I'm pretty sure now that the 20080202 version will not need to be changed for quite some time. So if you still want to modify my read-me and update your first post, feel free to do so. I'll be glad if it can help someone to use VBA, or VBA-M, as i use now

Is there anyway to continue after the E4 in Pokemon FR when is start on my save state, even if i can't do a normal save? The only time i can do a normal save is when i start from the beginning, now when i have donwloaded the patch. I really want to continue from my savestate where i am so close the end.

Thanks fade101.
![]() You don't have to use the vba-over jduvall, it is just an optional file that you can use so that when you run a certain game, it will trigger specific settings for that game automatically. I believe that you can just set the settings and it will stay that way in Options>Emulator>Save Type even when you load a different rom. |

yes it works with VBA-Link, but you must still delete the original battery file.
Also, your rom might have a different rom code, which effectively breaks this fix, so use VBA-Link 1.8 and edit the settings using the Emulation > Overrides dialogue

Here I am sounding stupid again, but I finally got my Pokemon fire red to work with the .ini, but it also says it helps the Classic NES series as well. well I did the same thing with Castlevania, but the game still won't play. Why not?

Of course, it's easier to just get the original Nes games dumps and a Nes emulator. You won't be missing anything as both (Classic Nes Series and the original Nes games) are exactly the same... |
