Awesome. On the occasions I play my GBA ROMs, it's nice to not have to constantly change the settings when switching between these problem games and normal games. The override configuration file works great for me, no problems at all.

first off, you are saying that your VBA version is 1.3? that could be what is giving you trouble. im using version 1.7.2. it may or may not do anything but try it anyway because the first thing you want to do is make sure you have the latest version. 1.7.2 isnt the latest but its more recent than 1.3. get whatever is considered the latest version and try to see if it works.

if nothing happens when you change your version, then try going to options>emulator>save types> and check only "automatic" and "flash 64K". that should fix the backup memory problem. im almost positive the memory error message has something to do with the flash 64K or flash 128K options. i think you use 128K if you have a certain patch, i believe its the ips file. but i dont know for sure. as for the corrupted save file, i get that too. i get it on my emulator as well. it gives you a message that the file is corrupted so the last save will be loaded. i dont know what causes it but ive never seen it cause any actual problems in-game so i wouldnt worry about it.

It's well known that the first Boktai game crashes when the real-time clock option is enabled. Wouldn't it therefore make more sense for vba-over to set the RTC to disabled (or omit it entirely, since the RTC is disabled by default)? Boktai of course was intended to use a RTC, but if the purpose of vba-over is to improve compatibility then it makes sense not to enable the RTC, since that will insure the game never runs correctly.

It runs perfectly for me. I'll look into it some more and see what I should do about that.

-Used VisualBoy Advance for playing the rom:Boktai-The Sun is in Your Hands
-After many seconds, it said:"Solar Sensor is Broken"

vba-over doesn't fix the solar sensor problem. Only the real time clock problem. You need a patch to fix the solar sensor.

this was already discussed before... if your rom image is crashing with "solar sensor is broken" even after patched. DISABLE RTC and will work. boktai2 and 3 doesn't have this problem.

just open vba-over.ini and look for the boktai, then change rtcenable=1 to rtcenable=0

Yay! ^_^

Thanks for this lads, you're all life savers.

DO NOT, however use the 1.8 beta version of VBA to play pokemon fire red (or any of the others for that matter. I would'nt know, i only play that and emerald) because it still wont work for that.

Incidentally, does anyboy know of a way to convert 1.8 game states in to a format readable by the previous version of VBA? (As far as I can tell that particular problem hasn't come up yet.) I've been using 1.8 and as a result all my saves are effectively buggered. I know i can still game state but there isn't much point when the game ends after the elite four because it can't make a native save.

In any case, cheers for the fix.

i have come across a strange issue though

if the main setting is 128K, the over-ini won't override this for games that need 64K i've tested that on GoldenSun 1 and 2 which requires 64K saves

Does anyone know how to fix the Pokemon games on the real GBA? (actually, my DS is doing it)

I'm getting the 1m sub-circuit board message sometimes when i play it in my DS.

EDIT: Also by the way, the Super Mario Advance 4 is fixed by changing the save to 128k.

Vba-over 20080129 :)

I updated the vba-over.ini once again with 3 games that weren't in the last version made by the TheCloudOfSmoke. They are:

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon - Red Rescue Team (Europe) (En,Fr,De,Es,It)
Rocky (USA)(En,Fr,De,Es,It)
Yu-Gi-Oh! - Ultimate Masters - World Championship Tournament 2006 (Europe)(En,Jp,Fr,De,Es,It)
even if these games seems identical the the other release on the list,
they do not have the same game code.

I also readded from an old version of vba-over.ini by King Hanco :

e-Reader (USA)
Card e-Reader+ (Japan)
As they were correct and may be emulated someday.

I also made some changes such as the names of the games by loosely using
the new No-Intro naming convention for languages

And lastly, i wrote a Read-me with many infos from this very thread that
may be useful to people who wish to know how it work and what to do to correct some recurrent problems with corrupted saves and the likes.

Please check this vba-over.ini to see if anything is missing and feel free to correct me if i made any mistake or if my read-me is not clear enough (or not good enough )

Edit: I removed this version because i found some mistake, use the 20080202 version instead.

Hmm. If someone can verify that everything is the way it should be. I could use this as the new updated version.
