SDL version sound garble
Using the new 1.4 SDL version, I'm able to run 100% speed with 0 frameskip, no problems, but the sound tends to start garbling up after about 15-20 seconds of running and never gets back right again..
I've tried every combination of sound settings in the cfg file, as well as even using SDL_AUDIODRIVER=WAVEOUT (which totally nerfs VBA btw, don't do that , but no luck on fixing it... this is happening on two different machines, one with 2000 (athlon XP 1800 with 512meg, VIA AC97 sound chip), and one with XP (athlon XP 2000 with 1gig, Maxisound Fortissimo sound card), both with directX 9 (had this problem with directx 8.1 as well before, so I don't believe it's that). Is this just a problem SDL has with 2000 and XP, or an incompatibility with those sound cards? The native windows port works without any sound problems (1.3 had lots with vsync on, but this seems to be all fixed now, yay!), but the SDL version gets better performance as far as the video goes and keeping 100% speed at all times, so I'd much rather use that. Any ideas? |

I don't have any suggestions about it, but my experience with the SDL version is not really good on Windows. The synchronization is different than the way the Windows version works and there isn't much I can do about it.
As I mentioned in other posts, check if you have autoframeskip enabled and if you have more than one joystick plugged, try unplugging them and see if it improves. |
