problem with "shining soul"

Hi, I was trying to play the japanese rpg game "shining soul" and noticed the overland map to be a big mess, i.e. I can walk through walls, screen is made up of scattered squares etc, so I just want to know if there is something wrong with my rom or emulator. If someone can go to the first level and post some proper screenshots that would help a lot, thanks!
