About the sonic thing being played without the bios, I found that if you use the bios once you never have to use them again. Strange!

You mean you didnt delete the bios??? if that so, that is normal, just like epsxe remember to use the bios whenever it run a game. Actually VBA will use the bios for all games once you have configure it properly.

I think it's just all better with everyone if you just use the BIOS for all the games. Perhaps everything will be much better for all of you.

BTW, does Nintendo post any new GBA BIOSes? Not requesting any, but I'm just wondering if there are any "versions" of the BIOS...

There is one problem there, the makers of the emus aren't allowed to distribute the bios with the emulator. So we would probably end up with another string of people asking "Where can I find the BIOs?" (Not a request )

It will be fixed in the upcoming version. It uses some interesting code which caused problems.

Oh are you people who don't need the bios using something else apart for VisualBoy?

There are at least 2, maybe 3 versions of the bios floating around the web. One is labelled [UNK], one is labelled [ts2], and one isn't labelled (it may be one of the other 2 or it may be a third one). One of the labelled ones gave me problems on some games, the other worked fine. However, I only use a bios if the game won't work without it, otherwise I just use the emulated bios. One thing that kinda sucks about the bios situation is that save states done with bios enabled can't be loaded with bios disabled and vice-versa. Not a big deal, but it can be annoying when you forget to turn the bios on/off and get a "save is not using bios" error message when trying to load the savestate.

There is only one good BIOS version. N has not made any versions as far as I know.

The reason for the "save is not using bios" or save is using bios messages is because it changes the BIOS addresses. When you save, the CPU may be in the middle of a BIOS execution, so if you try to load it without the BIOS, it will not work or go nuts. The emulator is just protecting you.
