Two questions about self-compiled applications in Mac OS X
#1: Is it possible to associate file types with them? In my case, I tried to associate Mednafen with those numerous ROM file types it supports. However, OS X didn't accept the binary in the dialog, even though I'm perfectly able to run the games from command line.
#2: Are there any tutorials about the process of building real Mac OS X applications from source? It crossed my mind that Mac OS X might have rejected that association, because Mednafen wasn't inside the Applications folder. Is there any suitable (and hopefully automagic) method of converting the standard "make install" instructions into a nice Mac application? |

1. Yes. Either set it manually, or the source should have something in the install (for make install). If not designed specifically for a mac, then it must be manually done.
2. Only if the source is designed for a mac Beyond that... I'm not much help. Not a mac user, but I know my way around source distributions.
