Basically these 2, for hardware-accelerated games. There's also Hypercam and Camstudio, but these are *not* specifically fit for this task.

- Fraps (the free version is ok too. just choose to record at half-size if it trashes too much)
- Taksi

Using windows98se which i am using, fraps the older version, under 2.0 works fine. But you cant record sound, but believe it works great.

Never heard of taksi, i will check it out

1 minute of sequential recording, plus unremovable watermark on the top. similar to fraps, though i think fraps is limited to 30 seconds clips, even.

...that's what they all do, well maybe not with sound, but they all simply record whatever is showing onscreen...nothing complicated about them.

Fraps records the game itself just fine for me. I remember accidentaly hitting F9 or whatever the record button was in some games and all of a sudden I noticed my harddrive was almost full and there were tons of videos of games in the Fraps folder.

I don't remember it recording sound though.

When do you have to pay for AutoScreenRecorder??...that's a free version, not a trial...I tried it personally but my PC does not have enough power and it ended up being more of a slideshow than a video recording. I also noticed that there was no sound though.

I have version 2.9.3 for fraps and sound record is what you hear so I'm using headphones so it's not to soft when I record.

Ok solved time issue with fraps it only had 30 seconds. Now trying version 1.9d and I can't get that to start recording.

It does when loud sound can bother others in the room and you need it loud for it to pick it up at a decent level from what I've been told in the past.
