Hey all...
My comp. just recently got a ad-virus thingy. I've viewed the Registry and disabled unnecessary startup options, as well a configuring msconfig. Everything seems to be ok, but when I start-up my comp., it takes FOREVER .Anyone got any info on how I can speed it up? Also, as a side note, I noticed that all my .mkv files lag on VLC media player, as well as Zoom Media player... Anyone got a fix for that?? Thx in advance.

If you use Norton programs, they'll probably need to go, disabling doesnt change a thing
As usual:Spybot SD (should probably suffice, will get rid of adware and similar nasties) Spyware Terminator (realtime protection from nasties) Any antivirus (absolute minimum obviously. Avira's Antivir Personal is the best free one, way above AVG and Avast) All up-to-date, with full scans done. Dont forget to post more details. StartupCPL will allow you to see what starts with Windows in particular. Could be either a gigantic number of softs, or a b0rked one. Slightly offtopic: Media Player Classic doesnt lag with MKVs, coupled with FFdshow, and Zoomplayer is a little too gey for my taste, only thing for it seems to be its tv-out stuff ![]() There's always the CCCP codec pack, if you need standardized, usable codec packs
