I are will be diving off the plank into the seas of one eyed Willy to find a fix before installing this.

Or were you just joking about it rendering OEM hacks useless tuanming? Gasp, does that mean the paradox hack and Cl0ny's one click activator are useless now too?

Anyone testing it? I wonder if there's some performance increase.

should be, at least in networking and with the speed hotfixes slipped in the SP. Actually, its not really like they improved anything, they just fixed what was supposed to be working fine from the first release. See how sh**ty coding and proofing procedures can get you business ?
Now Vista users have to decide whether they want to live with the original flawed release or as usual install service packs just because they're told to do so.

What I meant was.. is it really necessary if you already use the performance/compat patches?

MS patches and service packs are known for having some performance improvements constituted of modified settings. Rechecking system settings should ensure there is no fecreased reliability after "updates"

The mere removal of the Reduced Functionalty Mode would entice many to use it anyway when it's final

Wga, hmmmm? Windows Gay Advantage?

Just like last time, watch it be cracked before SP1 release or on the same day just like before the official Vista release.

Vista sucks so much not even pirates are flocking to it.
A service pack wouldn't in itself suffice for increasing the installer userbase, but making Vista itself less annoying to the everyday user (less chatty UAC for example), and less ressources-intensive would already sound as a significant improvement for average joes.

I actually like Windows Vista because I'm tired looking/playing with Windows XP which is about 5 years olds OS. I'm waiting for Windows Vienna aka Windows 7, the successor of Vista in 2009 or early 2010 to be released If you have proper hardwares or "modern hardwares" (2006-2007) then you should be fine, but also your system have to be balanced as well, or else it'd get bottlenecked if one of the components is running faster than the others... Beside drivers and application incomparability, which SP1 will soon solve most of the issues, it will be as good as XP, if not better

The battle of the Geeks vs. the Nerds if that what you meant. To simplify for those who didn't get the irony/joke.. It's the battle between hackers and Microsoft...

Yes, PARADOX's emulator seems to be defeated. At this moment...

And it will never end. The crackers have victories, so does MS, so its like running around in circles.

I think SP1 causes Fraps to not work. It also seems to override the forced nvidia vsync setting.
=P
oh, and maybe it's a little faster...dunno. Other than that, I didn't see a lot of difference, so I uninstalled it, and indeed, fraps started working again after that ;p
