Counter Strike Source doesn't work after i defrag my hdd

for a while the cause of this problem remained a mystery to me, but i recently discovered that Counter Strike: Source will not run when Steam is in offline mode after defragging. yeah i know what you're thinking, "why aren't you always connected to the internet?", well it sucks out where I live, i am restricted to satellite internet (just fast enough to check for updates and post, but no gaming sadely ). I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar problem, and if they might know a possible solution.

The only relation that a defrag can have with apps not running correctly is faulty RAM. Run memtest86, if it fails, replace the bad RAM chip.

Did you defrag your entire hard drive, or did you defrag the game data from within Steam?

There's an option "Validate cache" or something like that somewhere in Steam.
You need to be online to do it but it can fix corrupt .gcf files, which seems to be your problem
