What's your top Internet browser currently?

I'm using firefox for a long time but the bad thing is it's uses a lot of my mem usage. Then I try another one Avant Browser. This one is good, fast and save my mem usage. Any other browser recommendation?

FireFox for me, I've tried also Opera and Maxthon (other than IE of course) and I prefer FireFox between these.

Well, since this thread is about WHICH is the best (assumedly for current and older systems alike or separately), allow me to drop a few cents here.

For the slowest and least capable computers, Opera and K-Meleon are absolutely the fastest, and most satisfying browsers. Think pentium 2 and 128 mb RAM here.

Apart the "unusual" interface of Opera, it is way better, and certainly way more secure than Firefox. Many FireFox extensions have similar functionalty available in the core Opera package too, though Firefox remains more customizeable.

K-Meleon itself seems to suffer from its confusion amounts of preferences available.

Firefox beats these two thanks to the advantage of open extensions development, and frequent integration of some of their code for the following versions, like for session-autoresuming (wich Opera had long before).

An increasingly worrying turndown for Firefox, is the fact you are _not allowed _to do antiphishing checks on a single site basis, and have to either live with it permanently, or without it (the Firefox 2.0 blacklist, while a welcome improvement compared to 1.5, isnt that much of a protection nowadays).

Integration of the PhishTank API (instead of only Google's privacy-anihilating antiphishing checks, with EACH url submitted to them) could however wipe some of these concerns away, but I don't expect Google will allow it to happen for anything named FireFox (think of the Playstation _brand name_). Ergo, the increasing awareness to other builds of FireFox, like IceWeasel.

Quote:
3rd party zero-length image files resulting in 3rd party cookie (web bugs).[3] Note that in Firefox 1.0 and 1.5 3rd party cookies can be disabled completely via the UI. However the UI option was removed in 2.0.
Now why was that ? And please don't say it was "confusing" people... 0-lenght pics allow scammers and spammers to know your email adress is valid and used, and that you have viewed the emails they sent you, so they know they can spam you more. No security, was never a better choice than little security, and I'm sure it was a significant incentive for many of you to have considered FireFox in the first place.

With most people having IE6 anyway, only dissatisfation with their _current_ browsers could make 'em consider other alternatives. Despite the current concerns on FireFox, it still is a worthy enough one, so I'll be listing some practical browsers based on code quality, featureset, ressource usage, security and standards compliance.

1 - Opera. Yes, you read that right, it's a clear winner in each of these 5 categories, and I'm a Firefox groupie myself, netherless.

2 - Firefox. The 3.0 version should be even more satisfying than 2.0, so get ready for it, especially for the improved rendering engine.

3 - IE7. A massive improvement over IE6, it comes closer to FireFox 2.0 in functionalty. Good news, browsers are evolving again, after the years-long inertia in this area. Vista users have it integrated, and it's certainly a satisfying "enough" browser for those.

4 - Maxthon, an excellent internet explorer shell wich uses the IE6 engine, while adding a whole bunch of functionalty, like tabbed browsing. For the MS groupies who dont use/want IE7, this is the most satisfying shell you'll find.

Firefox, I used to be using Maxthon before I found Tab Mix Plus add-on that adds a bunch of functionality on improving Firefox's tabbed browsing experience. :P

Try IE Tab add-on, and you will only need one browser for everything.

I use Firefox..

Opera always annoyed me. IE was just a risk to my health, and Netscape back when I used it took 5x as long to load a page.

EDIT:
I don't know why everyone complains about FF's memory usage. I used it back when I had 256mb, and it worked great.

Hard core Rikki pretty much summed it up, but i never particularly liked opera... its unique, lemmi put it that way. I use Firefox... I can't bear the lack of customization in the other browsers.

Maxthon, formerly known as MyIE2, integrates the the MS Trident engine so it will use IE7 if installed instead of IE6. Of course if you are already using IE7, it's similar in basic functionality to Maxthon already. Before IE7, I used MyIE2 and then Maxthon. But now I primarily use IE7 at home. At work, I use IE6, IE7, and Firefox.

IE7 64bit in Windows Vista 64bit is also a nice browser with tighter security, but it also has compatibility issues with 32bit IE components.
