Trialpay: offering software for FREE ? Where's the catch ?
These last few days, I've been puzzled about a website-based affiliated business, that supposedly gives you free versions of software that is not supposed to be free, and is even supported by these very vendors themselves.
I'd appreciate to know if any of you already tried this, and what you think of it. I've heard and seen a lot of scams and worthless offers, but to this day, I found nothing yet negative about this, and I've tried. Looks relatively innofensive from a home user's viewpoint. The very fact that Kerio and Winzip use TrialPay seemed puzzling enough. Apparently, it's only necessary to input some contact details (not necessarily real ones), choose an offer, try an offer, then voila! Free software!

Voted for.: Looks like scam.
I never and I mean never trust such site's. 99.99% of the time they are full of Ad/Mal/Spy - Ware. And any kind of rubbish. Maby if someone could post some possitif results I would mind and take a look at it. But still I prefere my software in a nice case with all the stuff inside it. Thats why I always buy my Software. Ow and btw there is no such a thing as Free in this world. |

Buying 3 firewalls and 4 antiviruses isnt too cheap, and any privacy "issue", I could get rid of before it happens, so it's not too much of a bad deal from here, at least for a tryout. Well, cased stuff still beats downloads, yeah, I'm not thinking otherwise, but most those offers look like involving either a free service tryout (like REAL's RealArcade, or buying something first). I still remember the GATOR/DivX scam, since it made me escape to XviD and opensource, wich wasnt on any of my radars at that time. UPDATE: a free subcription offer to RealArcade turned out to open an emjcd.com related page, wich seems to be listed in adware schemes. I guess I'll forget about this now. After all, I blacklist aspx, mspx and reconstruct scripts in sandboxes for execution, wouldnt make much sense to let these slip in.
