watch anime? what else do people use it for?

If you meant Xvid...yes, I know that and I use it, also because Vista + Divx doesn't work well (half the program isn't compatible, and it makes Media Center hang up).

err nope. the latest betas of FFDshow does all decoding you need. There is no need to install DivX ( which is inferior than Xvid anyways). If you need a codec pack, there is always CCCP up for grabs.

Go with FFDShow as _E_ mentioned (man you changed your named from Elly which I am use to calling ) has a lot of customization and tweaks for every type of decoding, works well with MPC.

FFDShow crashes Windows Movie Maker =P

Codec packs, divX...horrible, horrible I bite my thumb at you all!

Well not really, but;
a) you don't need divX, xvid is very much for the win
b) next person to meantion the k-lite mega pack will get decapitated, install the select few you need, yeesh, it's not hard!

Xvid, QTalt, x264, AC3 ACM, gabests MPEG splitters, Haali, Lame MP3, CoreAVC Pro, and then add yourself some APE and FLAC support, and bling you've got everything you'll ever really need.

So tired of all these random codecs, goofy useless formats (anime / AMV freaks seem to love these), if you can't play it with the above, it's not worth it

No I don't like FFDshow...don't care how awesome it is, it's for lazy lazy lazy people, and just plain no!

I think K-lite Mega Codec Pack is the best
it have used K-lite Mega Codec Pack in 3 years now.., and havent got a single error With Playback, tryed with xp-pro 32bit/64bit-vista ultimate 32bit/64bit..and its works awsome..

Why is K-lite Mega Codec pack are better than CCCP ?
-CCCP uses ffdshow for divx for its playback, but ffdshow dont support divx menu and divx spesial features like inbuilt subtitles.
-Klite Mega codec pack has the latest divxpro6 Encoding-Decoding for free.(clean of bundle ofcourse)
for dvd playpack does k-lite mega codec pack uses(you can choose other)the Cyberlink DVD decoder witch is excellent and has better quality than cccp(ffdshow) & VLC

for the xvid do klite uses ffdshow for low cpu use

K-lite includes latest IE & Firefox Quicktime and Real(alternatives) plugins to play clips in the browser(comeOn who want the bloatet realplayer ?)

klite mega codecs pack plays also ALOT(!) of rare formats, has tool for fix codec conflict/broken codecs, has profiles to choose before to install, if you are going to just decode or to encode/decode.., tweaks if you want..etc
the point is klite mega codec pack is solid pack of lastest codecs for ensure best playback quality and features...

yours

Wow, I love how everyone missed the point. The excitement over Divx Pro is much more about encoding, not decoding.

No one gives a crap what you use to decode your files with. K-Lite, FFDshow, whatever. No one cares, at all. Go ahead, ask me if I care. You can even PM me if you want to ask me if I give a crap what you use.
