For the MS line, I've used all of them (including DOS) except for 3.1 and, the bastard child, ME. Linux wise, I've used Red Hat and Mandrake (very lightly for both). And for Apple, I've used whatever the newest one is, and whatever would have been on school Macs about 6 years ago.

There is a distinct lack of OS/2 in this thread. OS/2 2.1, V3, V4 veteran here! While you were hobbling along on your dinky pseudo-multitasking Windows OS's I was rockin' and rollin' with the Presentation Manager.

I also tried Linux back in the old old days, when it still came on a bunch of floppy disks and there were only like 2 distributions. I hated it then, I hate it now.

MS-DOS (various versions), MSX-DOS (also, various versions)

Windows, uhm, I think about everything since 3.1, allthough I haven't tried Vista yet.

Linux: various versions of Redhat (older ones), Mandrake, Debian, Ubuntu, Knoppix

currently: Windows XP Home on 2 pc's, I have a recent Knoppix CD, and my MSX runs MSX-DOS 2.20 on a compact flash card

Its a version created by IBM. Not sure if MSDOS is superior to it or not.

Well on the Linux side I've still got JAMD installed.

On the Windows side of the street, I've used 3.1, 98SE, ME, 2000 and XP Pro.

My longest serving Operating System was Windows ME, I'd probably still be using it if not for the fact that Battle for Middle-Earth wouldn't run on it.

ME ran really quite well when the Optional Component Maker BETA 10 was used to strip out all the crap that shouldn't have been put in there in the first place. On a kind of related note, I still use the My Computer and Recycle Bin Icons from ME on XP, I just think they are the nicest looking (the one good thing they swiped from 2000)

I used ME in my school in school only.

And I'm thinking about of emulating Win 3.1... is it "good" to play around?

Oh yeah, I used Windows NT for a while there. My brother had to use it at work and showed me how cool it was but I thought it was a POS since I was like 11 and had no DOS support.

In a word... no

There was never any software worth messing around with that only ran under Windows 3.1. End of story.

and using the 3.1 OS itself was worse than using IE to browse your computer...
