there's no stickies in this forum, i recon this makes a good start. keep that thread updated

oh and if i may ad one

Spyware protection:

Spyware Blaster

unlike spybot and adaware (which are scanners + resident) spyware blaster merely provides firefox (which spybot doesnt do) and IE protection against advertising sites and viruses, there is no resident, it merely blocks them out so running once a week or smth is more than enough, i find it goes quite nicely in hand with adaware and spybot s&d.

edit: just noticed they arent in the first post, wanna update it with additions people give?

You can try K-Lite Codec Pack too. The Mega one is great if you're into video converting.

dont worry, the forum has "title detection" to give your link a name if you didnt give it one, so it doesnt display as a link :P

for quick and dirty media encoding/decoding from using avi codecs I suggest bink/smacker from rad game tools.
irfanview, VLC, MPC will open any media file ever... almost.
NVTweak for nvidia card users (Low level card-tweaking).
Tor for use when proxies don't.
foxyproxy just useful
hamachi for old lan gaming over the net
Ultravnc + dynDNS for easy remote login of your personal computer
XBCD for plug/play xbox gamepads/dance mat/etc
Daemon tools for image loading
7zip, winrar for compression
beyond compare for file comparision

most of the admin/antivirus software named here is good so i wont mention it.

Nice thread. It would indeed help all people that come asking "which is the best software to...?"

A couple of suggestions:

Audio Player:
-foobar2000 (quite good, plays everything, plenty of features, very low resource consumer, not exactly a beauty contest winner)

Image Viewer:
-XnView (together with Irfanview one of my favourites. It has actually more features than Irfanview, but it's hard to leave the classic Irfan)

FTP Client:
-Filezilla (open source, full featured, easy to use)

CD/DVD Images Manager:
-Alcohol 120% (makes perfect images, burns to discs, includes virtual drive)

Thanks for the contribution.
I've forgotten about Alcohol 120% 'cause of Daemon tools.
Will add it now.

I once saw foobar but it was ugly. Don't remember if you could download skins.

I'll also add a little program called Hacha.
Most of you must know it, it's a great file splitter.

Didn't seen KPF (kerio not sunbelt one) here.

@ruantec A.E.S
Just out of curiosity how many 3rd party libs are there ? (for example what do You use for burning) anyway looking forward to this one as it seem to be complex so total less resource usage. (throw in firewall and I'll love it)

so it was not my intention to post this here...but it looks like it was a mistake... anyway to aswer your question. my goal is to creat a all in one thingy a application for almost every task you need to do everyday...burn cd/dvd,hear music, play videos, play games etc. for the burning process i´ve created my own way to record media. in fact i´ve created differents projects in the past and @ruantec A.E.S put all those projects together in one single application.
@ruantec A.E.S doesn´t use 3rd party libs. only ffdshow is needed

about the firewall.... i can do it(it´s not a big deal) but i didn´t though on that before... so it´s(for now) not in my 'TO DO' list... maybe i can do something for you later.
