yet another Oblivion thread (but its good)

I have already asked a lot on how to improve oblivion on my pc and have come to the realization that I will need to get a geforce 7950gt with 512mb of vram in order to significantly increase performance.

Even so, how is it that the developers got those rediculous screens that are on the box for oblivion? if you have the game and kept the box, look on the inside flap and tell me those aren't some dirty graphics (especially the one of the lake with the imperial city in the background).

also peep these The Elder Scrolls

with my 7800gt that has 256mb of vram, I can max out all of the settings in the options menu and still not get as good graphics in those screens. how else is it done?

you need to do major ini tweaking as well as install a few plugins to get those screenshots.

1. All the options at max is far from the best possible! edit ini file.
2. Your card can't do HDR and AA, get a geforce 8800 or ATI card to be able to achieve this.

There are some patches/mods etc that allow for both HDR and AA i believe.

Here's a pretty comprehensive guide to getting Oblivion to run smoothly.

You're probably refering to the Chuck patch, it only works for ATI 1800 and 1900 series.

The Geforce 8800 has support for this by default.

The other cards can't do it in oblivion.
