Firewalls Are Driving Me Nuts!!!
I noticed that shareaza was suffering badly with Zone Alarm installed, and Azureus couldn't get a port unless I chose it each time, and reckoned DHT Firewalled. With Zone Alarm disabled it stopped.
I would like to go back to Norton Personal Firewall, but when it installs, my internet breaks, until I disable it. Is anyone aware of how to fix this? So I tried another firewall that i'd heard of before. BlackICE, it booted up and BSOD! Soming like "memory dump" and something like false execution... Un-installed it. I used to have McAfee, always seemed to end up with our PC going in a doomed direction...but theres something horrible about it, and all the PCs we've had it on have died of spyware.... so I'm curious So I'm back to Zone Alarm, which has caused my old PC to have it's internet connectivity lost due to "out-dated root certificates" and "You have been hacked, follow the instructions in safe mode to un-install Zone Alarm and restore connectivity". I havent had either of them, but when I activated PRO my PC hanged until pro got to start up. So I switched back, I've been noticing the occasionly blank page that I have to re-fresh... My PC hates firewalls : / Any advice? Last edited by mogster; August 4th, 2006 at 18:20. |

Use Kerio firewall. Zonealarm does NOT stop running just cuz you 'stopped it'. Only uninstallation stops Zonealarm and Norton. Norton's firewall is also a very inferior firewall.
Try Kerio. I'm certain you'd like it. Try this software configuration, your system should get max protection for less memory bogs too. antivirus : AVG Free edition firewall : Kerio antispyware: spyware blaster for prevention / spybot search and destroy for cleaning |
