Cool Music Software (mixing, merging, morphing, Instrument Simulation, Effects)

I checked out the free software thread on neowin.net, and it does not seem to have the software to suit my needs. I was hoping that someone might be able to help me here.

I recently (today) found a great software program, on Aldostools called "iTypeMusic" , that allows me to simulate a piano, and other things as well.

I was wondering if anyone knew another free or opensource program that can do this, and more, such as:

Simulate Piano, electric keyboard, Electric Guitar, Regular (I'm Guessing) Bass Guitar, Simulate Drums, or a drumset, and various other musical instruments, As well as different effects, sounds, and also having a sound Recorder/Mixer/Morpher, as well as having something to merge audio tracks, or music together.

I guess I'm looking for an all-in-one Freeware Suite.

If there is such a program out there that is available as freeware, could anybody suggest one?

If there isn't an all in one solution for this, can someone reccomend Seperate programs (freeware), that can do all of what I just described?

Thank You, if you can help, or give suggestions

you ever tried using trackers? they arent as advanced as sequencers but you can use VST's with them and get everything you need for free.

for the free VST's go here http://www.kvraudio.com/

edit: appropriate search http://www.kvraudio.com/get.php?mode...sort=1&rpp=100

for a windows tracker that is pretty easy to use go here http://sourceforge.net/projects/modplug/

The only program that I know that does all of that is FL Studio but it's not freeware.

There's an entire GNU/Linux system dedicated to audio video work environments, called AGNULA. You might want to look at it.

All the software inside it is open source, and available as separate downloads at their site.

I dunno, I have it, but I can't get my head around it. Probably because i'm n0000000b. It does quite a lot, and does the job of being so complex I .. (cba).
And with all the music knowledge that's probably gonna be needed, I think.

Yup, I'm real dumb when it comes to fruityl... I mean FL studio (lol Gayloop studio)

FLStudio is fine, its much easier to use than the likes of cubase (which i use) and other sequencers. Infact its used by a fair few professional producers.

Thanks for your replies

So no one knows if there is a free alternative to FL Studio?

I'd be thankful if someone knew of one, because it seems like it would be fun to mix, morph, add audio effects to music, and simulate instruments on my PC

I don't really want seperate proggies for all of this, because I don't want to clog up my hard drive, with all different programs and folders, so an all in one solution would be viable for me

i just found this

http://www.frieve.com/english/musicstd/download.html

the Music Studio Producer, second link down is totally free, its a midi sequencer with audio, VST(i) and midi support, looks like it does the stuff FL does (obviously with differences/limitations in comparison), but i dont think you are going to get much better for free

Thanks Refraction

Yeah I know this is about as good as I'll get for free, but hey it's worth it since I can't buy or afford FL studio atm

Try this list and check if anything there fulfills your fancy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...and_sequencers

My personal tries:

Hydrogen seems to be an alternative to Fruityloops.

http://www.hydrogen-music.org/

There's also Skale, but even more confusing than FL

http://skale.binarydeception.com/

The closest you can get to FL is GNU/Linux exclusive, too bad. Only closer is ABLETON.

I bought that garbage version when I was younger. You can barely save a beat with all of the limitations that it has. They make it so you can't do anything with that version so you'll have to upgrade. Producer Edition is the way to go. There's also Propellerhead's Reason but I've never got into that as much as FL Studio.

Thanks. However I noticed this is only able to simulate drums, and no other instruments. I would really appreciate it if someone knew if there was another proggie like hydrogen or FL Studio, that was able to simulate other instruments, as well as what I described I needed in my first post of this thread.

There has to be an exact freeware clone of FL Studio out there, I'm sure the ones listed here or on neowin.net are not the only ones out there.

As big as the world is, I'm sure somebody out there is developing an exact freeware clone of FL Studio, and it's effects, options and sound capabilities

Thanks if anyone can list any more suggestions, or a free program any of you use for this. Btw only Spyware, Adware, Malware free programs, I Just got my computer running good again, and I don't want to go infecting it with crapware

Thank You if you can help

Thanks refraction, for replying. I don't mean to be a bother or anything, and I really want to keep my good reputation on ngemu

Anyway's I've tried that Audio engine, and it didn't exactly fit what I needed.

Anyways, I should list the two reasons I need a program like this.

Reason: I decided instead of programing an emu, that I would instead take up game development, speciffically 3d game dev'ing, and need something that can compose music, sound effects, and be able to morph the music, and or sound effects.

Before any of you say that It takes a while to learn game deving, I'm willing to spend that long time to learn it, and devote myself to it. I also have plenty of resources I can use if I ever have a problem, such as: Gamedev.net, nehe's website for opengl, plenty of C++ tutorials out there.

Also I'm going to be reattending college to finish up my degree, and hopefully plan on transferring to a four year college, to learn game development.

The other reason I need a program like this, is just for fun, to make music with my comp, and just to merely fool around with it.

Btw, how much does the full (Complete version) of FL Studio cost?

Thanks if you can let me know. I apologise if it seems I'm being a bother, if I am don't hesitate to let me know

Fruity Edition $99
Producers Edition (recommended) $149
XXL Edition $361

or if you are a student (as you said) and you haev a student card you can get Cubase SE3 for $75 as seen here

http://secure.keyfax.com/Merchant2/m...g&Store_Code=M

I dont know if thats restricted to the US or that will be a problem, but its an alternative for you
