Can't delete a movie file

Hola!

I'm having a problem with my pc right now.
The thing is I have a movie file (format is Avi) in my pc, and it doesn't let me delete it.
I checked the Task Manager and couldn't find the program that is using it.
But Windows says that there is something using it.
I even restarted my pc, but still I can't delete the file.

Anybody has a solution for this?

Try going booting into safe mode and then deleting the file.

The command prompt works wonders for situations like these.

There are also programs like Unlocker work as well if you don't wand to mess with the command prompt.

Damn I was going to suggest Unlocker. Unlocker is one of the best programs I've ever used when it comes to annoying files or programs like this that don't wanna close. I highly recommend it

This is a common problem with windows xp as it tries to load a "preview" of the file when you click on it, hence making the file in use. Try rebooting and going into the cmd prompt to remove the file. You can also try using a winxp avi fix that removes the preview so it dosent happen to you again.

I also used gipo@moveonboot iirc once to remove a file after reboot, however as previously suggested try Unlocker that is up-to-date.

moveonboot worked wonders in the past. I have not had that problem recently, though. These were porn files IIRC

indeed, I really like that program; it always seems to work. It is in fact, possible to delete system files with it (NOT RECOMMENDED; it totally messes up your installation - I just tried that out when an installation was already messed up anyway)

Anyway, where does the pr0n relation come from? It happens on all kinds of files...

Hey everybody!
Thanks for the replys.

I don't know why the first thing people think is that I want to delete a Porn.
Actually is an anime movie of Evangelion.

I think I used moveonboot before but didn't remember the name.

I'll try all the options you said and let you know what happened.

Edit: I used unlocker, great tool. Thanks!!
