Couple of issues with our SB Live! 24-bit sound card...oO

There’s a couple of problems that I have run into, and maybe you guys can help me out, as I can’t find any drivers for this sound card on any of the Creative websites. It’s like the sound card doesn’t exist, and yet it clearly does since i’ve got one, and it’s an official Creative product. I have the origional installation CD, but that is probably the cause of my grief, concerning the sound card.

First issue is concerning the Volume Control Panel, when you activate the Advanced Properties which will allow you to modify bass and treble levels, but they are greyed out. They are also greyed out in the Creative Surround Mixer. The other issue is that while the sound card is supposedly 24-bit, WinDVD doesn’t recognize it as a 24-bit sound card. I have downloaded the latest version of WinDVD, but still nothing...another issue is refering to the Bass Boost feature, which is also greyed out.

This may be an issue (I will experiment) but for some reason, the game Beyond Good and Evil doesn't want to play with sound. I was using XP SP2, but I have reverted back to Win 2000 Pro SP4...seems more stable to me...

But my issues refer to the second paragraph. I have no idea what to do, and I am not going to download modded drivers yet....but, if the only way to fix these issues is to do so, then so be it...which ones do I use? (b.t.w, if it's inappropriate to talk about modded drivers, please remove this paragraph). I am hoping that someone can assist me..

Anyone have any suggestions?

failing that you could try the Kx project drivers, EAX is borked cos its not really a driver made for games, but its definately an alternative to try.

KX Project Drivers
Thats a link to a thread on the forum, get the 2 files n do what it says.

Official Site
So you can check the faq's and stuff.

one note, when you install them your rear and front speakers will probably be swapped, if you open the Kx Mixer i think its the bottom right picture of a speaker in the mixer that you click on to swap it.

I have an SB Live! 24-bit too, and even with Creative's CD drivers, the bass/treble are greyed out.. doesn't matter though, as they come with an awesome control panel with an EQ/bass boost/speaker setup, etc..

I found it odd how the Creative website didn't have them (I bought this card from Mikeshoup for $7, didn't have a CD ), I had to borrow the disc from a friend and copy it.

Hmm...that was a good idea, KanedA...I may do the same, and buy an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum....why should I go through this headache..

One thing I failed to mention is that I am on a VERY crappy internet connection, and the cost for the use of the phone line for the net (basically, i am charged as if I am making a local call), I just cannot afford it...so, downloading an image of a retail cd etc..is out of the question. I have the Cd that came with the card, as well as the box, manual, cd cable, etc...

Thanks for the input though...I will check out KxProject drivers, cause I used them at some point with my SB Live! 5.1

Although one question...does KX support EAX 2.0, EAX Advanced HD etc.? Cause those are features I do not wish to lose.

Thanks for the assistance
