McShield.exe 100% cpu usage(need help)

OK, the problem is that every time when the windows startup, the cpu usage on the McShield is 100%(I didn't do scanning) and it slow down my computer . Usually, this problem didn't occur to my computer at past and load faster. I am currently using Mcafee VirusScan 9.1 since few month without problem until last week. So, is there any solution to fix the cpu usage problem? Please tell me about any info . BTW, I need to wait 5 minutes until the cpu usage is normal again and the startup complete. In the past, I only need to wait around 15-25 seconds.(I did try to set the Active Shield to scan the 'Program Files and Documents only but no avail.)

Sounds like the program is corrupt.

Uninstall and reinstall McAfee.

Guess I have no choice, by the ways, which one is better? AVG or Avast? Both of them seem to be good and have major of people using them. Now I confuse which one should I use. And one more, do anyone know where can I get free firewall that can open the port and use less resource?

personally id say Avast is better, seems to catch more stuff as its comming in than AVG.

free firewall? use the Microsoft one with SP2, its as good as any one youd pay for
