Windows XP acting wierd
Just finished installing winXP SP2 last night. Everything went all right ( except uxtheme.dll , which gave a few headaches trying to get it to work ). However, there is a single problem annoying the heck out of me and I have no idea how to solve it. Whenever I minimise a program, it doesnt appear in the taskbar, it just disappears. I had to use alt + tab to shift from one program to another, which is a pain. Can anyone end my suffering with a magical solution please?
Oh yeah, the programs don't appear on the taskbar even when they're maximised. Yours, -Elly

That happens to me a few time too, but gets back to normal after a while... So, I don't have any clue. Maybe you're just unlucky ;P
Another problem I have though, when I have mIRC on, I can't play any games, can't change resolution, FireFox becomes unusable and no DirectX tests is able to start. When I close it, everything works fine. Dunno what this is, but if anyone knows, tell me...

I was going to say that it looks like your quick bar is stretched all the way out, making the taskbar seem empty.

Well, first of all I'd suggest using Litestep and Mozilla Firefox. (Though these are more suggestions for general use and have nothing to do with the problem)
Also, are you using XP Pro or Regular XP? Finally, typically if you lock/unlock the taskbar or change your taskbar "look" to classic mode, this bug goes away and your taskbar stuff comes back. Also, this can be caused by the Quicklaunch toolbar. WEXP, try Trillian, tell me if the same problem occurs. |

That's crazy. Sometimes it's the simplest of things that seem so bad... Good you got it fixed Elly. When I looked at the picture, I was like WOW that's a big quicklaunch bar! It's happened to me before on Windows 98.
I don't use the quicklaunch bar anymore, I use keyboard shortcuts. Ctrl+Alt+Whatever.
