Exclamation Can't access my old account folders!!

After a file corruption problem on my computer I had to install Win XP SP2 (my previous one was SP1) again but it has created another profile under \documents and settings making my previous one unacessible! The problem is, I have TONS of things on my previous desktop/my documents folders but WinXP doesn't let me access it!
Is there any way I can have my files back?

Thanks in advance,
Omegainf

You probably need to reset the permissions for that folder:

1) Go to Tools -> Folder Options -> View, and disable "Use simple file sharing" (you can re-enable this after resetting the permissions).
2) Go to the properties of the old profile, you should see a "Security" tab now.
3) In the Security tab add your new user to the list, give it "Full Control" permissions, then press "Apply".
4) Now, go to Advanced, check "Reset permission entries on all child objects", and press "Apply".

You should be able to access the folder after that.

Did you manage to do the entire process I described? Or you got an error message in one of the steps?

Also, can you show me a screenshot of the "Security" tab for that folder?

Badaro: Thanks, it worked!!! And sorry for the misunderstanding, my 1st reply was for Player-X's suggestion

Thanks again!

Edit: Ok, I can access the folder but none of the subfolders and I can't change the security options :/

Slightly adjusted procedure, try this on the profile folder:

1) Go to Tools -> Folder Options -> View, and disable "Use simple file sharing" (you can re-enable this after resetting the permissions).
2) Go to the properties of the old profile, you should see a "Security" tab now.

3a) Now, go to Advanced, Owner tab, double-click your new user so it becames the owner of the folder, check "Replace owner on subcontainer and objects", the press "Apply".

3) In the Security tab add your new user to the list, give it "Full Control" permissions, then press "Apply".
4) Now, go to Advanced, check "Reset permission entries on all child objects", and press "Apply".
