Windows XP SP2 release pushed back again

Microsoft have announced further delays on the release of Windows XP Service Pack 2, which was originally expected to be released today. Oh, and it seems that the three out of five machines not booting is in fact linked to spyware.

I heard it was supposed to be released at the end of August ... Anyways, whatever it takes. We don't want them releasing more damn 'fixes' for not completing SP2 properly.

Better to wait then for them to fix their problems later.

I want them to perfect the SP2 so we do NOT get BSOD's when it's out. I will be very upset if my new computer starts to blue screen of death because of buggy microsoft code..

There is no final build, it is still in development. There have been several Release Candidates, which is what he will have. The RC versions are publically available.

Hell, I've downloaded over 2GB in one day over a measly half megabit connection, so I don't think that I've got anything to worry about. Plus, ordering a CD further delays the wait.

It's amazing what you can find if you only look for it, isn't it?

Just in case you need to get installable downloads for other MS products.

Erm, this discussion isn't about sp1, it's about sp2.

It's also amazing when you actually read the topic name before you make a total jackass of yourself, isn't it? No, not for you.

Seems like build 2180 gets the golden seal of completion. SP2 will be available to the web on the 10th of august, while you will be able to get it on cd on the 25th.

Ive tried 2180 with nLite, and it worked great when slipstreaming sp2 into my original xp cd. For more info about slipstreaming and other custom xp installations check out http://unattended.msfn.org/index.htm . I got my cd to the point where all I have to do is type a name, set admin's password, and type in my key and it does the rest!
