Best comercial one: Norton Antivirus. It conflicts much with other programs thought.
Best free-one: Antivir probaply. Havent tested others. It has autoprotection, and no conflicts with other programs what i know. Downoad it here: www.freeav.com

Top 8 Windows Antivirus for 2004
Avoid the free AVG. I have read reports it doesn't detect all the viruses. |

I presume AVG is not same what i mentioned above? Just wondering where the 'G' comes from. Antivir is updated VERY frequently, so it detects lots of viruses and trojans, and if you check in options, dialers and such.

I would go with Mcafee, Norton, or Trend Micro PC-Cillin Internet Security 04' are the best. I been using Avg recently (free one) and it wasn't very good. The reason is that it found trojan horse but ever time i tried to scan it, it wouldnt clean it. Then i went out and bought Norton and found like 37 viruses even though Avg(free version) said my system was clean. Best bet is go with virus scanner that updates its definition regularly or go with three i recommended. Oh yeah Pcworld this month has comparison of how each one does during tests. The three i listed did the best.

As for the best Antivirus... I say McAfee V8.0. Been using McAfee since version 5.0 and it's been awesome. I would have to reccomend it.

I've worked on computers that have had WAY more then 37 viruses. Some of them were the same virus, but there were a LOT. I believe there were around 135 or so infected files on the same computer.

If you're going for McAfee I recommend that you get version 7.0. Version 8.0 just sucks. |

When i was using AVG it would say my system was clean. The deleted it after b/c it would find a trojan horse but wouldnt delete it. Then i used Norton antivirus it found alot of viruses on my comp.
Windhydra i looked at my log and i was wrong. 36 infected files, but 11 viruses. I still think its alot. I was using the free version of AVG but when I read the paid version in PCworld it had bad marks of fixing Trojan Horses at like 24% rate of sucess.

I think SYMANTEC products is the best there is since even virus writers use them. For free antivirus, most reputable sites recommend AVG. PAnda Online antivirus is also free and never failed to detect/fix viruses that passed AVG undetected or those it cant fix.

I use Norton, and one of the reasons I like it is its Office integration. I tried McAfee and Panda and didn't really like them. I might try F-Prot again sometime.

well for me, Norton is quite good for a commercial anti virus... as for free anti virus, I use AVG...
right now, I'm trying the Panda on the other PC... although trial version since its way too expensive...
