combining 2 video files into one

I was wondering if there was a program out there that allows you to combine two video files into one big video file without any gaps in the middle, but just a solid, smooth transition from one to the other.

Try Tmpgenc. Close the wizard, click on file, mpeg tools, merge and cut and then click on add. I hope this helps.

eh, i think he's talking about AVI files, like combining 2 disc DivX rips into 1 single file. which cant be done, right? because AVI files contain headers that point towards the entire file, making them impossible to take apart and put together losslessly (unline MPEG-1)

You can try a program called "AVI/MPEG/RM/WMV Joiner". IMO, it's a good software, but the trial version is only limited to 10 days of use.

@Killershots: That's a great idea, if all the codecs are identical.
Fr0g's suggestion is the best. I often use VirtualDub to strap multiple files together. The only problem is that if there are files with different codecs, you have to do a recode.
