While on the topic of MPC, Kane do you know how to make my wmv, asf, and other MS related video become streamed using MPC. When I go to www.gametrailers.com (look for any trailer that says its a wmv) and try to associate MPC with all of the media it does not seem to stream at all or causes an error. Any idea how to go about solving it?

I opened up the Sonic heroes one in Media Player Classic no probs. I have unassosciated WMP with everything then simly used MPC to take them all back up.

It always says it failed to render the file, is there something I need to d/l to get it to run?

I only use it for Real/Quicktime alternative. I like WMP9 for the taskbar capabilites.

what kind of file are you trying to run? if it's Xvid/Divx get FFDshow

Actually if you go to up the post with the gametrailers link and look at the list. At the bottom there is link to a trailer called BC and in light blue it will say wmv. This is the file I was trying to access as a test. Of course that is the error I got. The file seems to be an association to *.asx, which is with WMP9. It seems to work fine there, but whenever I give it to MPC it just does not render it.

Nope, tried FDDShow and it still did not render it properly, although openning other wmv's and asf seem fine, its just streaming them from certain sites fails to render it.

6.4.7.1 is released. Changed thread title. Here's the changelog:

- matrixmixer is allowed to autoload after the internal audio switcher.
- corrected ogg splitter's output media type for aac, wma and other compression types, which needed a few extra bytes put after the format structure, seeking onto keyframes and stream error handling were also improved.
- fixed the picture becoming black with the "vmr9 (renderless)" when zooming in with the numpad buttons and using offscreen video surface or texture+2d modes (texture+3d mode was not affected).

hey kane, in your opinion, which mode should i use, "use regular offscreen plain surfaces" "render in 2D" or "render in 3D" (under VMR renderless/directx settings).

those are really confusing me, i picked 3D because it seems the fanciest but i really dont know.

I use VMR 9 mode with 'use Texture surfaces and render in 2d'. 3d slowed down for me on a couple of files.

6.4.6.8 doesn't fix my issue with that and Ranma S7, so I'll just stick with the latest version.
