Dial-up-networking manager

I'm looking for a little app to automatically redial my internet connection if it gets dropped. Nothing fancy, that's the only function I need. Any suggestions?

Re: Dial-up-networking manager

You shouldn't need an extra app to do it. I have my connection set to redial if i get kicked.

Re: Dial-up-networking manager

Yeah, it works if somebody jerks the phone line out of the wall, but if my ISP disconnects me, it doesn't seem to work.

Not that I've ever witnessed it, but when I leave my PC on the net all night downloading stuff from Direct Connect, it quite often gets disconnected and never reconnects.

Lmao. It always redials for me. Only thing is I have to wait a minute before it automatically does it.

edit: I dont use Direct Connect, so I'm not familiar with it, but shouldn't it have some auto redial feature/option in there somewhere?

Nope. I might have to put in a feature request if I can't find something.

You can use Getright.
BUT, yoy have to dial from it, and then it will redial whenever you got kicked.

what works best for me is MSN Messenger... messenger will automatically bring the box up and reconnect whenever I get bumped.

Come to think of it, I have used that before. Wonder why I didn't think of that. Anyway yeah that should work.

I got Direct Connect today and messed around with it. Anyway it seems that if you get kicked and it dials back up, it still wont resume the download. I had to force reconnect to the source I was getting the file from in order for it to continue downloading...which sucks. Why can't it auto-resume like eMule or Kazaa?

I used eMule to get a 760 MB file. Big mistake. It took almost 2 weeks to finish due to the line and the crappy transfer rate. Even if DC doesn't resume downloads, it is far better to use.

Re: Dial-up-networking manager

eMule is NOT good for single files. it is AWESOME for group files. if you incorrectly use it (to get one movie, for example) you will be pissed off.

however, try getting an entire season of some anime/show and you will be pleased. ive done it before and i got my average DL speed up to to the 40s. of course, trying to download 1 game brought it down to ~3 so....
