Re: *.IDX Files?

I have two .IDX files, one in my Star Ocean graphics pack and the other in my Street Fighter Alpha 2 graphics pack.

To have over a thousand of them is worrying, I'd definately do a Virus scan as it could be a worm. Try opening one in notepad and see what it says, could give clues as to what it is.

Re: *.IDX Files?

Index Files? Windows XP by default enables indexing. It allows for files to be searched through much faser.

Re: *.IDX Files?

indexing sucks. turn it off: right click on your drive and uncheck "allow drive indexing". it takes up too much hard drive space, the only good thing is if you do LOTS of searches

Re: *.IDX Files?

I have drive indexing on. I do not have thousands of IDX files in my root dir of any of my drives. I defrag regularly, but using DisKeeper.
