Hi, this isnt epsxe related, but I noticed this forum has alot of knowlegeable readers so I wanna give it a shot. I tried irc and other boards but I still couldnt find any answer.
What program can I use to open .ogm file? It's the video counterpart of .ogg.

well this probably should be in software discussion (http://www.ngemu.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?forumid=16)

however, if you want to play OGM files, use the excellent Media Player Classic: http://www.ngemu.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?forumid=16

We have a software discussion forum here, you know? And there's a thread just like this on the first page.

thanks for moving it shadow (congrats on becoming a new admin by the way).

anyway, calvin, did you get the file playing? IIRC if you get the "FFDshow" codec pack you can play em in windows media player. i can play them in WMP9 but i dont really know what i did to get there.

also...make sure you set it to VMR7 or VMR9 and then you can take screenshots

Re: OT: What to do with .ogm files?

Actualy, what you need is the Ogg directshow filter. The FFDshow app is a filter pack for MPEG-4 decoding, not for telling hte computer how to open up OGM containers.

OGM is not the video counterpart of OGG. It's not a codec, it's a container. You can have normal DivX movies stored in it like an AVI. The advantages it has it that is supports OGG soundtracks, multiple soundtracks and text based subtitles

Alright, let's get picky here. :P OGM _is_ the video counterpart for OGG-the-container-format, since, technically, it is the same as OGG. Yep, that's right, .OGG isn't just a music file, it's a general-purpose container format, that just so happens to normally contain Vorbis audio. Someone eventually noticed that it was a general-purpose container format, and wrote a spec for storing movies in it, and thus OGM was born.

Re: OT: What to do with .ogm files?

ok i can get them to play perfectly fine. i use media player classic, divx5.05, and vobsub. everything great.

a friend using the exact same progs playing the exact same files has the picture flipped. with vobsub, the picture can be flipped again so the image is normal, but subtitles still appear flipped. what to do?

Re: OT: What to do with .ogm files?

What rendering mode is he using? What codec is the video in? What codecs/versions does he have installed?

Re: OT: What to do with .ogm files?

Use FFDShow Alpha. It's a much better decoder IMO.

As far as rendering mode, I mean in Options > Playback > Output, what settings is he using?

Re: OT: What to do with .ogm files?

Try setting it in Video Mixing Renderer 9 (renderless) mode
