Re: knoppix 3.2 root password ?

IIRC Knoppix creates a random root password. There's a menu item under "Knoppix" i think that opens a root shell (no pw needed), where you can launch the installer...

sh is in sudoers? Eep...

(I know, doesn't matter too much with Knoppix, but note that it's NOT a good thing to have sh in your sudoers normally )

Re: knoppix 3.2 root password ?

It would be stupid on a normal installation, but it's fine with Knoppix. AFAIK, in previous versions of Knoppix, the user was root all the time - but this is dangerous, a unexperienced user might destroy something by accident. In current versions, the user has to sudo such potentially dangerous actions - so there is hope he know's what he's doing.

Re: knoppix 3.2 root password ?

Yeah, like I said, it's understandable in Knoppix. Just wanting everyone to know it's very dangerous otherwise.
