I'm starting to think about upgrading to a new OS.
Which OS is better? Windows 2000 vs. Windows XP? Does Windows 2000 have that product activation stuff in it? Which OS is better suited for games? |

Re: Windows 2000 vs. Windows XP
no, 2000 does not come with activation. from my experience with both... they are utterly the same.
except... 2000, does not have system rollback, which is/was handy when i didn't want the det50s.. 2000, does not have different folder profiles. I find it very annoying when i have a folder with just pictures and xp automatically changes my folder to a strip thingy... *both have thumbnail view however, which is good. other than that... no difference *unless you want to count wanting to skin xp...

Re: Windows 2000 vs. Windows XP
Yeah, that's pretty much it. The major changes to XP are cosmetic. Some people have more issues with XP; some have more issues with 2000. That seems pretty much hardware dependent (and almost completely random).
At my school all the laptops (all students have them here) are either 2000 and XP, neither of which gives us issues up here at the Help Desk. Product Activation has never been an issue for me, as my copies come from a student liscense. Pick and choose, it doesn't really matter. They're just better than all the other Windows. |
