WinXp keep sending &receiving data

this problem started when I connected to the internet, since I using dial-up I can see the small indicator in the taskbar menu, after surfing for about 2-4 minutes, suddenly my modem become slow, at first i thought I open too many Internet explorer so I close all of them, but the modem keep sending and receiving data, i don't even know what data is it receive or sent, so i disconnect it and suddenly the screen pop up and say "you or your computer request data from microsoft.com" and then below there's a choice for me to choose whether what ISP I want to dial.

this kind of thing happens everytime I connected to internet, it seems like this is the cause of the WinXP cause this kind of problem desn't exsist in Win98SE, I already try to disable auto update feature from WinXP but still don't solve this problem, It's very very annoying, I can't download thing freely cause every 2-4 minutes it keep sending and receiving data causing my connection become slow and slower.
Anybody know how to solve this problem? or is it something I forgot to disable or enable? Help me plz

It might be a torjan or worm.

I suggest you use "Ad-aware" and "Spybot Search and Destroy".

Also update your antivirus checker.

trojan? but I think it's still new, I just install this WinXP and it's still new no any other application install except MS office and drivers and DirectX9.0a but I try to use ad aware first to see if it works, thx for the reply.

****!!! you right! it's a virus! it's a worm! worm /navici.a infevted in "DLLHOST.exe" luckily I got new antivirus with me, the antivirus told me to delete it and I deleted it, I think there's no problem in deleting DLLHOST.exe right?

Umm that sounds like a windows systemfile .. so i wouldnt be so quick about that . it cant clean it without deleting ?

yeah it is a windows system file but I have no choice the Antivirus personal edition can do nothing except to delete it.

i had this problem make sure you read this http://www.pchell.com/virus/welchia.shtml to patch up the hole in windows xp then download the file i included to remove the virus
