ok my 2nd best comp is gettin thrown out...should i use the built on mobo SiS650 or a radeon ati rage pro

Try comparing both and see what the difference is performance wise. I think the rage pro might be better/faster.

here's my opinions
98se: Decent os, but isn't fully supported by m$ anymore

ME: Newer than the rest and more features but is EXTREMLY unreliable/stable. My least fav os out of these 3.

95a/b/c: My fav os out of these 3 but it lacks good USB support and has no more support from m$. Too outdated to put in a comp (Internet explorer 5.5 and directx 8.1 is the newest stuff you can get for it). Getting just about any support/help for any add on stuff (gfx cards, sound cards, etc.) for it is a pain in the @$$.

If you can, try getting win2000 or xp instead. If you can't get either of those, get win98se.

im sorry about the double thread...but when i posted it i clicked stop...i thought i clicked stop in time...because when i used my other comp to explore the software duscussion threads...it wasnt there or at least i didnt think so...sorry again...

well the SiS650 is built on this mobo...but im using my GF4 while the card i put in (From the trash pile at wittenberg, a college my dad works at) is waht my secondary comp uses...because thats all i have available thats useful...

im trying to "aquire" xp (not dling as you may think...) but it is kinda expensive...id like to have xp...

and another thing my friend/i were wodnering...is there anyway to go from the new and improved...*cough*...XP look w/rounded cornors and stuff like that back to like this 95-me looking stuff???

XP does have an option to make it look like win2000 (ME and 98 look pretty much the same).

The "new" XP look is just a theme. Right click the desktop, click properties. Goto the themes tab and in the dropdown box choose "windows Classic." you can also change the startmenu back to normal too. Open the start menu and right click on a blank space on the menu and click properties. Then go to th "start menu" tab and select "classic start menu" and you've gotten rid of the, i'm not afraid to say , awful XP theme heh.

ok great thx, im follow my friend to his now now and see if he/dad wants the classic look...i told em it was a desktop theme...at least with this printed copy hell belive me now!!! im always more right htem him buahahah....thx again
